What are you thinking?
“Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.” Philippians 4:8
When we are having a down day, chances are we are not thinking about things that are right, pure, lovely, etc. One way to ensure out thoughts will line up with this verse is if we are thankful. When we are in a state of thankfulness we don’t have room for ungodly thoughts.
I love words. But sometimes I don’t choose the kindest words. When I am praising God even my words reflect that.
Have you ever had one of those days when God gave you just the right words someone needed to hear? You could almost see those words go into the person and deep into their soul.
You never really know what someone is going through, just the day to day takes a lot of energy. People need encouragement. We can be one of those people who provide it for others.
If our focus is on the Lord, he will provide life-giving words we can share with others.
One suggestion to help your thoughts line up with God is to keep a thankful journal. From time to time, preferably at least once every couple of weeks or so. Write down what you are thankful for. It will put your eyes where they need to be, on the Father. And all the things he’s provided.
And if you’re down, then at least thank him for his constant presence, for he promised he’ll always be with us.
God cares about you, he really does.
