Healing words for wounded souls.

My Prayer for 2016

square flower

Well we did it. We said goodbye to 2015. Some of us toasted the new year with a glass of bubbly. Others knew it would come whether it was welcomed or not so they slipped into bed as the clock ticked it in.

And now we face another year. A clean slate with no mistakes on it.

What will we do? Where will we go?

I guess it depends on what happened in 2015.

If 2015 was filled with hard days, weeks or even months, we looked forward to this new year as a new start.

But if 2015 held some golden days for us, we dare to wonder if this year can possibly measure up. After all there was a new birth, a healing, a changed life.

The chances are pretty good that 2015 was a myriad of days. Not all bad, not all good.

And right before us is a fresh new year. With no footprints on it yet. An adventure waiting to be discovered.

My prayer is that I go into it with anticipation of what God has in store for me. Kind of like a flower.

Like a flower fair on a single stem,

bending with the gentle breeze,

open to the sun’s sweet rays,

drinking in the drops of dew.

Not closing tight when darkness comes,

but gently folding for the night,

just responding every day.

Let me, Lord, be like this flower.

Happy New Year!
